Hi Chuck,
At fourteen I decided not to partake in Christmas activities including the exchanging of gifts. I continued to do this until I had a son at age 21.
In high school I was somewhat of an outcast. I wrote my name preceded by "Atheist" on all my schoolwork. Some students thought that an atheist was someone who followed 70-year old ladies home and raped them! I was forced to sit off in a corner of some classrooms -- separated from the other students. When I obtained permission not to have to stand for the Lords Prayer, I was made to sit in the school office while someone read from the Bible over the P.A. system directly in front of me.
Don't let them force you to do anything without paying them back. I used to phone priests up at random and harass them about their silliness just to undo the shit that was forced on me.
