Sorry about all the misrepresentations of Christ.
It's a shame to see so many "Christians" drag themselves, Christ and every other believer through the mud when interfacing with those, like yourself, who hold to a different worldview. Many times people like this shoot themselves in the foot along with the rest of the church. Just look at Catholic church history. It really has left a black eye for those of us who are trying to live as Christ would have us. I am so sorry that you have to put up with this hypocrisy at all.

I would like to add, however, that WE SHOULD NEVER JUDGE A PHILOSOPHY BY ITS ABUSES OR ABUSERS. Certainly religion has been misused as a means to control and oppress, but that is definitely not something that Christ would encourage. The fact is, we (Christians and the unlike) are free to choose God, free to choose sin, free to choose abuses of power and abuses of the created world and our bodies. The choice is ours. Unfortunately, many self-proclaimed "Christians" have chosen the worst possible actions and words, leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of many atheists and skeptics such as yourself.

If you have honest questions about any relavent issues (God, creation-evolution, age of the earth, salvation), please feel free to ask and be prepared for honest answers.
