Wow. I am once again blown away. Gimme a break. Wait... I
get it. You
want to free our minds from this terrible doctrine right? Yah, free
us to
believe what you are telling us to believe. Don't you get that you
are
doing exactly what you are all mad about? What is the difference
between
our believing in God and you believing in nothing - it takes the same
amount
of faith. Instead of defining your argument on negation, try putting
up a
site on your premises and truths about your beliefs. I think it would
be
pretty hard to find some solid proofs there. I am a Chistian, and I
wasn't
forced to be. If society is forcing us to do anything, you can bet
that
this is to just make money and buy stuff. To pursue desire
satisfaction.
Materialism is rampant and don't try and tell me that this is a
Christian
quality. "Some people are prepared to forget that religion was
ever
embraced." Whats your point? Guess what, as long as there has
been
religion (forever) there have pretty much been a crowd of people who
oppose
it. Nothing new here. That makes you think about something else
- what
else has been around for this long? Sure, there are countless
different
sizes and shapes, but when you get down to it, the idea of God has
been
around for ever. If it was false it would have been abandoned long
ago.
This isn't even something you are taught. People inately feel that
there is
something bigger than themselves out there. Think about this, how can
you
think and reason? That is pretty tough to explain with the big
bang.
Consciousness cannot come out of something that has no consciousness
(ameno
acids).
I'm not even going to try to counter all of your points,
and I'm not
going to take any shots at you or get really pissed off. That's not
right
either. It just looks to me like you have a lot of questions, I'm
sure you
want certainty as much as anyone else. However, your article is
blatently
biased, you obviously have done no more resarch on this than actually
finding the verses you wish to use - out of context. IF you want
to
actually educate yourself a little, don't stew over this by yourself
with
you apparent bitterness, and read books like Plato's Republic for a
start,
and then St. Augustine's Confessions - books 1-9 specifically (St.
Augustine
was a devout aetheist for half of his life). I really do not intend
to be
condesending or a huge jerk even though I may have came across that
way. I
sincerely hope you try to look for the answers to your questions instead
of
assuming what you know is the truth. (I know you could say the same
for me)
Descartes says that to not make a mistake, you can't let your
judgment
exceed your reasoning, letting your will exceed your knowledge.
Thanks for your time.
