Darwin,

I stummbled across the essay "The Pope is Humpty Dumpty", accidentally (Your intention I'm sure. Much more interesting than the actual Stats Can page for sure.), and I thought I would provide you with some feedback.

After reading the essay, some feedback and your subsequent responses I feel that your essay has some problems. Let me explain.

From what I have read you seem to be very determined to evangelize the poor, blind christians to atheism. In fact, you go so far as to say that you love them and want them to see the truth (paraphrase). That's fine. In fact, it makes sense for you to share your beliefs if you believe that others are floundering in lies.

However, here is the problem. You do not seem to have a very good understanding of the fundamentals of christianity. If we took all of you accusations (strong word, but I think appropriate) towards christians and rolled them up together what we have is a sort of pop-christianity stereotype. Ned Flanders from the Simpsons if you will. Your arguments are based on a stereotype created by non- or anti-christians. If you want to prove someone wrong you need to at least base your arguments on what they, the fundamentalist or evangelical christians, believe. Otherwise, why would they listen to you. They would simply write you off as ignorant of the facts and, dare I say unthinking.

I only know of one christian bookstore in B.C. that would be helpful to you. The Regent College bookstore at UBC would probably have everything you need to brush up on the facts of christianity. Incidently, when I say christianity I am not talking about Christendom. As a number of people pointed out in their responses, there is a difference. Christendom is a horrible beast and has terribly distorded christianity.

Please understand that I am not trying to change you beliefs. I am only trying to point out a flaw in your argument. Think of it as constructive criticism. By the way, here is a site you might enjoy.

Very funny religious satire.

yours,
