I'm one of those thinkers that your article talked
about. I am an atheist, an evolutionist, and I question everything.
There should be alternatives to creationism, there should be a wider hole in
that 'sin' based culture and law system.
But I have to say that you were a little too rough on the poor
Beleivers. I know a lot of them myself and they're generally good
people.
Their morals are very strong, but sadly they only extend to their own
brood.
I have no morals in the human sense, anymore, having
long since abandoned them. Life is, the way I see it, just here and there
isn't any mystical thing too it. I feel pleasure and pain because of
heredity and environment, so I'm just here for the fun.
Being a pack animal for the last several million years,
we all experience empathy and pity for our kind, but only because of the
evolutionary benefit it offered us. And religion is rather firmly based on
these early drafts of morals. Some of it is good stuff, in the human
perspective.
